History

Van Reenen Transport - Warehouse - Removals has been around for more than a century, making it one of the oldest transport companies in the Netherlands. Over all those years we've built up tremendous expertise. The watchwords of our business are "quality" and "reliability", and that's why customers keep coming back.

The company's first owner was Willem Rijken. In a marriage certificate from November 1917 he listed his profession: haulier. He sold the business to Van Ee, who handed it over to Wolfswinkel on 30 April 1930.

Six months after the start of the Second World War, J. van Reenen became the new owner. The truck involved in that handover was an Oldsmobile. Given the fuel scarcity of the time, the truck was fitted with a wood-gas generator. Burning wood inside the unit released the gas, which could then be used as fuel. The wood itself was carried on the roof of the truck. After the war, the business was expanded with a second vehicle.

In 1960 the first DAF Torpedo was bought. That collector's item is still owned by Van Reenen today. Things moved fast from there, and we now operate over 100 trucks of all kinds and sizes.

For all our years on the road, we are a dynamic and inventive transport company with an eye for new (environmental) developments. We like being out in front. Sustainable enterprise shows up in our choice of materials and fuels, in modern driving techniques and in optimising distribution flows. All of it with an eye on the future of creation and society. It's no accident that Van Reenen Transport, Warehouse and Removals belongs to the top three percent of financially healthy transport companies in the Netherlands. And we're a bit proud of that.

Company profile

With nearly 100 years of experience and a modern, sustainable way of working, Van Reenen Transport - Warehouse - Removals is one of the financially healthiest transport companies in the country. Thanks to a steadily growing customer base, exceptional in this sector, the Barneveld haulier can keep investing in a modern, well-maintained fleet. The more than 160 permanent employees are well trained and motivated. Knowledge, experience, social engagement and passion are the words that define Van Reenen.

A good name is better than fine oil, as the wise King Solomon once said. With justified pride we can say that Van Reenen Transport - Warehouse - Removals not only looks good but ranks among the very top of the Dutch transport sector on quality. We say it ourselves, but we hear it most often from our European customers, who are mainly active in the agricultural, food, non-food, construction and industrial sectors. We do everything we can to live up to that name and reputation.

The logistics solutions we offer aren't only about the here and now, they're about the future of people and the environment. As a transport company, we believe we carry an extra responsibility on that front. That's why our processes are geared towards sustainability: handling creation with care and respect. For us that also means good working relationships with our business partners and staff, fully honouring our commitments and giving our maximum during every service. Honest and straight in word and deed. That's what we commit to. And we still do it with pleasure and passion.

Our respect for people and the environment, and our commitment to our clientele, are captured in a set of core values:

  • We are innovative in our logistics concepts and in IT, people and equipment.
  • We focus on sustainable practices within our company, sparing the living environment wherever we can.
  • The customer is central. We think along and advise for the best price-quality balance.
  • Our craftsmanship and knowledge of laws and regulations, built on nearly 100 years of experience, are deployed in full to serve our customers.
  • We work with positive drive at every level of the company, engaged with, and committed to, our customers.

Why Van Reenen

Thanks to the expertise of our people, we deliver the kind of quality that has, by now, become almost legendary.

We use the latest IT and communication tools, our staff are well trained, and we make sure there's a good working atmosphere and strong relationships between colleagues. Few permanent staff leave us, so the knowledge and experience stay in-house. Van Reenen's customers benefit from that long-standing expertise and craftsmanship. And we've been doing it since 1917.

Running logistics flows seamlessly takes the right know-how and experience. Through their training and their deep knowledge of laws and regulations, our people can do that better than most. That's how Van Reenen takes a great deal of worry off our customers' plates. And we're happy to.

Corporate social responsibility

Stewardship is what drives us to operate responsibly. A transport company carries an extra responsibility on this front, we believe.

Climate is therefore an important factor for us. Every step, however small, counts. That's why our policy plans give a lot of attention to people and the environment. You can see this, for example, in our new building, which was constructed to the highest BREEAM standards.

People, Investing in people

That Van Reenen Transport - Warehouse - Removals is more than just another transport company is clear from how long our people stay with us. Many have already passed their silver jubilee with the company.

That happens because we look out for our people. We give them every opportunity and resource to grow within the business, and our customers benefit from that too. We ask a lot of our staff in terms of quality, integrity and commitment, but we also have heart for one another and stand by each other in good times and bad.

Van Reenen belongs to all of us. We do it together. And it works extremely well.

Planet, Investing in our planet

A transport company carries an extra responsibility when it comes to liveability and sustainability, that's our view at Van Reenen. So in recent years we've invested heavily in cutting emissions and adopting modern, optimal driving techniques.

94 percent of our fleet is fitted with a top-spec engine in the higher emission segment. All our vehicles run on Michelin Savergreen tyres and use BP and TRAXX fuels, fuels that meet international quality standards and contain unique additives that keep the engines cleaner, so they run smoother and use less fuel.

New reduction plans for various pollutants are also in the pipeline.

Our staff have followed several courses focused on environmentally efficient driving techniques. The result speaks for itself. We chart our own course in all this, with measurably better results than the more conventional, often subsidised, programmes. That's how we invest in the future, for ourselves and for our children.

Profit, Graydon Award

In times of financial uncertainty, knowing who you're doing business with matters. Customers want to know where they stand, so a partnership doesn't end in disappointment. Van Reenen shines on this front too.

We hold the prestigious Graydon Award, which puts us among the top financially healthy companies in the transport sector. The award is based on a mix of factors including turnover, annual results and payment behaviour. So it's not just our services that put us at the top, it's our financials too.

Charitable causes

Ronald McDonald Children's Fund

Van Reenen sponsors the Ronald McDonald Children's Fund by collecting and transporting cuddly toys, toys and other goods free of charge, and storing them. Our reason: a healthy child has a thousand wishes, a sick child only one. Thanks to the Ronald McDonald Houses, every sick child can have their parents close by.

New building

Van Reenen has moved into an energy-neutral distribution centre with attached workshop. The facility is one of the most sustainable distribution centres in Europe.

The distribution centre and its associated workshop with wash bay are receiving the BREEAM Outstanding rating. That instrument provides an integrated demonstration of the building's sustainability.

The gas-free building is fully energy-neutral and is fitted with solar panels, providing for its own energy needs. The ecological measures applied have given the resident stork colony a permanent home in the wadi on site.
